How the Biology SCITT programme works
The Biology SCITT programme combines school placements, centre-based training and subject-specific development. You will spend two main blocks in partnership schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and Somerset, with occasional placements in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Experienced mentors and Lead Mentors provide guidance, feedback, and support throughout your placements.
Teaching responsibilities develop gradually, starting with small groups and moving to full lessons and sequences of learning, culminating in full class responsibility. Intensive practice weeks and professional learning conversations help you link theory to classroom practice. Subject-specific training focuses on Biology pedagogy, curriculum planning, pupil progression, and developing strong subject knowledge. Enhanced Post-16 teaching experience is also included.
Why choose this programme?
Our Biology SCITT is delivered in partnership with the Five Counties SCITT and the Cabot Learning Federation. Ofsted judged our provision Outstanding in March 2024, reflecting our commitment to excellence, inclusion, and professional support.
