How the Drama SCITT programme works
The Drama SCITT combines classroom practice, centre-based training, and subject-specific development. You will complete two main school placements in our partner schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and Somerset, with occasional placements in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Each placement includes support from a Mentor and Lead Mentor who guide your progress and provide feedback.
You will begin by teaching small groups and parts of lessons, gradually progressing to teaching full lessons and whole sequences of learning. By the end of the year, you will take full responsibility for classes. Intensive practice weeks, professional learning conversations, and subject-specific training support you in making links between educational theory and classroom practice. Drama specialists provide training in subject knowledge, pedagogy, and strategies to inspire and challenge pupils across Key Stages 3–5.
