How the Geography SCITT programme works
The Geography SCITT combines school-centred training with subject-specific and professional development. You will complete two teaching placements in our partner schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and Somerset, with occasional placements in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
Each trainee is supported by a dedicated Mentor and Lead Mentor, who provide regular feedback, challenge, and encouragement. Your teaching role will grow gradually throughout the year, from working with small groups to teaching full lessons and eventually leading whole sequences of learning.
Centre-based training delivers evidence-based theory and practice, which you will apply during school placements with the support of mentors and colleagues. Subject-specific Geography training, led by expert teachers, explores subject knowledge, pedagogy, and strategies to engage pupils across Key Stages 3–5.
